Jürgen Klopp has one enforced change to make and a tight turnaround to consider for Liverpool's Premier League meeting with Norwich City.

Diogo Jota has been ruled out of Saturday’s match at Anfield as assessment continues on the ankle injury he sustained against Internazionale in the Champions League.

“No, he will not be available [to face Norwich],” said Klopp. “But the extent is still not clear. We need further assessment.

“It’s something with some ligaments in and around the ankle, but not the ligament, some others. And so, pretty much everything is possible in the moment: that it will go really quick and the other way around unfortunately as well. So we have to wait.”

Important information for fans - adverse weather conditions

AnnouncementImportant information for fans - adverse weather conditionsDue to the adverse weather conditions across the country, there will be a number of operational changes in place for Saturday's game at Anfield.

Weather conditions delayed the Reds’ return from European duty in Milan until Thursday, with Klopp therefore awaiting more details on the fitness of his players at the time of his press conference on Friday.

“All the rest, we don’t know yet. We have actually to wait,” he said.

“The information you get the day after the game are the injuries. The information you get two days after the game are the little niggles, where the players still feel it and you cannot use them. So, we are not even at that point. At this moment in time I have no idea who we can line up.

“Yes, we should have good options, but we don’t know.”

Klopp's pre-Norwich press conference

For the visitors, Adam Idah has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after requiring surgery on a knee injury.

Norwich boss Dean Smith is, however, boosted by the prospective availability of Ozan Kabak, who spent the second half of 2020-21 on loan with the Reds, and Mathias Normann after they got minutes in a training match against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.

“I was mindful of the fact a lot of players needed minutes,” said Smith. “It was good in the sense that Ozan played 90 minutes and is now back available. Mathias had 60 minutes in the practice game in the week, he’s nearing a start, which is really good for us.”

He added: “Tim Krul is progressing well. He’s doing some ball work and is due to have another injection today. Lukas Rupp is back in rehabilitation as well. So it’s looking good with those two.

Andrew Omobamidele had some time off. He hasn’t managed to deal with the training load so far, so we will go back to see a consultant on his back problem.”
