Liverpool’s U13s were beaten in the semi-finals of the Virgil’s Legacy Trophy tournament in the Netherlands on Sunday.

The Reds' defence of the title they lifted in the inaugural edition in 2025 came to a close at the final four stage.

Liverpool had topped Group B to progress a day prior as they were watched on by Steven Gerrard, though were beaten 1-0 by FC Barcelona in Tilburg in the next phase of the competition.

Bayern Munich - who progressed past Juventus in the other semi-final - ran out 3-1 winners in the showpiece to lift the trophy.

Virgil van Dijk was also in attendance in the Netherlands to meet participants and present the trophy.

Virgil’s Legacy Trophy was founded by the senior Reds captain and aims to “empower the next generation” through “bridging the gap between youth academy dreams and the reality of the professional game”.
