NewsLFC and The Red Way reach 'Champion' tier with 45 GOAL medals

It has been awarded 45 GOAL (Green Operations and Advanced Leadership) medals at the 2026 GOAL Medal Ceremony in New York, increasing from 36 last year, which has seen the club step up into the ‘Champion’ tier, the second-highest level of recognition.

This includes 19 medals at the gold level – which has increased from nine last year – across waste reduction, health and wellness, food and nutrition, diversity and inclusion, community resilience, ESG strategy and sustainable partnerships.

The ceremony took place while the club was in the USA for New York Climate Week, showcasing its sustainability strategy across a range of panels and events throughout the week.

GOAL is a sustainability membership and support network for the sports, entertainment and live events sectors. Its medals provide an industry-wide benchmark for progress across 10 ESG topics.

Over the past 12 months, LFC has strengthened how environmental, social and governance standards inform purchasing, supplier and partnership decisions. The approach supports greater supply-chain transparency, responsible business practices and the club’s wider net-zero ambitions under The Red Way.

Around two-thirds of club partners now support The Red Way, while 52 per cent of suppliers have carbon targets and net-zero ambitions.

All new LFC own-brand products met the club’s sustainable product criteria, and 97 per cent of packaging included sustainably sourced or recycled elements.

The approach has continued to receive industry recognition and extends the club’s environmental and social work beyond its own operations by contributing to LFC’s supply-chain sustainability and net-zero ambitions under The Red Way.
