Two goals from Cody Gakpo helped a Netherlands side also containing three other Liverpool players to a 4-0 win over Malta.

Gakpo, who netted twice from the penalty spot, was joined in the starting line-up by Jeremie Frimpong, Ryan Gravenberch and Virgil van Dijk as Oranje claimed a comprehensive away victory in World Cup qualifying.

Gravenberch and Van Dijk played the full 90 minutes, while Frimpong was taken off midway through the second half and Gakpo, who also recorded an assist, was withdrawn late on.

At Hampden Park, Andy Robertson captained Scotland to a 3-1 World Cup qualification win against Greece. Kostas Tsimikas scored for the visitors.

Finally, Kieran Morrison made his international U21 debut as a late substitute as Northern Ireland beat Malta 2-0.
