Jeremy Jacquet has described Liverpool as 'one of the greatest football institutions' and says he is 'honoured' to be joining the club.

The Reds reached an agreement for the transfer of the 20-year-old from French side Stade Rennais on Monday evening.

Jacquet will make the switch to Merseyside ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, subject to a work permit and international clearance.

He will remain with the Ligue 1 outfit for the remainder of the current season and move to Anfield in the summer on a long-term contract.

In a statement released on his behalf by Rennes, he said: "I am honoured to sign for Liverpool, one of the greatest football institutions in the world.

"It was also very important for me to finish my time in red and black on a high, at my boyhood club, the club of my heart.

"I'm approaching this second half of the season with the desire to experience some great moments with my teammates and the fans."

Jacquet has made 31 appearances in total for Rennes so far since making his debut in January 2024.
