LFC Foundation is teaming up with SC Johnson to deliver its biggest ever programme of summer activities for youngsters and their families to enjoy as part of its Big Red Summer.

From July 18 until September 1, Big Red Summer will return for its second year, with support from official club partner SC Johnson, to bring a packed schedule of more than 200 free activities to get young people and families fit and active during the summer holiday period.

Big Red Summer activities are designed for people of all age groups to help improve both physical fitness and mental wellbeing through sport and open play. There will be a wide range of sports activities on offer to try, summer holiday camps, tournaments and community events at LFC Foundation’s Community Hubs and other venues across Liverpool City Region, as well as Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

This year’s theme for Big Red Summer is sustainability and wellbeing, which fits with LFC’s The Red Way strategy, which encompasses the club’s ambition to make a positive difference to sustainability by focusing on its people, communities and the planet, by using its voice for good to help the next generations of Reds. To coincide with the theme, an extra element of education on the importance of sustainability and plastic wastage will be delivered at all sessions.

LFC Foundation and SC Johnson will also provide all attendees with a reusable water bottle to help save plastic waste. Water refill stations will also be available to encourage participants to reuse their water bottles.

Matt Parish, chief executive of LFC Foundation, said: “This year, our Big Red Summer programme is expected to engage with over 7,000 people during the six-week school holiday period, which will be our biggest yet. We have over 200 free, accessible activities for families to enjoy the great outdoors together this summer in their local communities.

“We are delighted to be working alongside SC Johnson this year, and with their support we can reach more families to encourage them to get active to help improve both their physical and mental wellbeing, whilst also promoting the importance of sustainability for our future health.”

Alan VanderMolen, chief communications officer at SC Johnson, said: “SC Johnson is thrilled to work with Liverpool FC and the Liverpool FC Foundation on Big Red Summer, promoting good recycling habits, health, and wellbeing across the community.

“We are committed to creating a more sustainable world for future generations as developing good habits today can result in significant change both for the Liverpool community and the planet as a whole.”

There is so much to enjoy this summer with LFC Foundation and SC Johnson, so come along, join in and have fun.
