Erik Farkas has signed his first professional contract with Liverpool FC.

The 17-year-old midfielder put pen to paper on the deal at the AXA Training Centre.

"It's a really proud moment for me and my family," he told Liverpoolfc.com. "I'm just grateful and blessed to achieve something big like that."

Farkas, who has been part of the Reds' Academy set-up since U12 level, is currently a member of Simon Wiles' U18s side.

He has made three appearances so far this season – including an outing off the bench in the UEFA Youth League draw with Atletico Madrid last week – and scored two goals.

Born in Hungary, Farkas represents England in international football and has been capped at U17 level.

His elder brother Patrik recently signed a professional deal with the Reds, too.
