Anfield pays respects ahead of 36th anniversary of Hillsborough

By Liverpool FC
Liverpool’s Premier League match against West Ham United was the men’s team’s nearest fixture to April 15, when in 1989 the disaster at the FA Cup semi-final with Nottingham Forest resulted in 97 supporters losing their lives.
A mosaic in honour of those children, women and men was formed on the Kop prior to kick-off as a silence was observed, with tributes also displayed on LED boards around the pitch and a commemorative matchday programme.
West Ham’s Aaron Cresswell also laid a wreath at the stadium’s Hillsborough Memorial ahead of the game to pay respects on behalf of the visitors.
