We'd like to make you aware of a change to when we can host concerts from next summer, following approval by Liverpool City Council on Tuesday October 20th.
You will likely be aware that we have successfully hosted a number of major concerts at Anfield in recent years - including Taylor Swift, Bruce Springsteen and The Rolling Stones - and currently have permission to hold up to six major events per year, in addition to our regular football fixtures.
Previously we were not able to host concerts during July in order to provide residents with a minimum 31 consecutive day period during the close season, free of football and other major events. However, in the last few years we have seen an increase in demand from promoters and artists for concerts to be hosted in July, and it has been well documented that both Anfield and the local and wider city economy have missed out on the benefits of hosting huge global artists because of these restrictions.
Following approval from Liverpool City Council at a recent committee hearing, we now have some flexibility to host concerts during the month of July while still maintaining a 31-day consecutive event-free period for residents. Aside from up to six concert days, the rest of the close season window will remain free from football and concerts.
This change will help Anfield attract more global artists and build on the significant benefits concerts bring to the city and local community. Between 2019 and 2024, Anfield concerts generated £31 million for the local economy, and 85% of staff employed for Anfield concerts came from the city of Liverpool.
Supporting residents remains a key priority, with all existing event management plans, noise monitoring arrangements and community engagement processes remaining in place.
Concerts also continue to support the local area through donations to the Red Neighbours Community Fund, which has awarded more than £140,000 to date to charities and community organisations in Anfield and surrounding neighbourhoods since 2020.
This is in addition to the programmes run by Red Neighbours, LFC Foundation’s community programme, which works year-round to support local residents in Anfield through initiatives that tackle social isolation, improve wellbeing and provide practical support. The programme delivers activities including community events, employability support, digital inclusion projects, food provision, environmental improvements and dedicated services for older people.
