A shade more than six months on from securing Champions League glory in Madrid, Klopp's men travelled to Qatar seeking to achieve an unprecedented feat in the club's history.
And they duly did just that, first by overcoming Monterrey of Mexico 2-1 in the last four and then defeating Copa Libertadores holders Flamengo 1-0 in the final thanks to an extra-time winner by Roberto Firmino.
