Liverpool have joined Premier League rivals Arsenal in the race for Celta Vigo's in-demand striker Nolito, according to talkSPORT sources.

The 29-year-old has impressed with eight La Liga goals so far this season, with his fine form attracting interest from the Gunners, as well as former club Barcelona.

The Spanish hitman at one point appeared close to agreeing a return to the Nou Camp – where he spent three years earlier in his career – before Celta Vigo rejected the Catalans’ bid.

Reports from Spain claimed Barca wanted to sign the former Benfica man initially on loan for the rest of the season, before meeting his £13.6m release clause in the summer.

But Celta Vigo are keen to wrap up a deal in this transfer window.

And talkSPORT sources believe both Liverpool and Arsenal are willing to fork out the cash now and have met their asking price.

Nolito has been a regular starter during his time at Celta Vigo and has scored 35 goals in two-and-a-half seasons.
