What are your feelings ahead of the new season?

I wish it wasn’t about to start. We’re not ready in any way.

Are you satisfied with your club’s transfer business this summer?

What transfer business? We’ve signed nobody and sold our Wembley hero from last season.

How is your team likely to line up?

With our best midfielder in defence, a winger at right-back and most of our top players in the treatment room.

Have you got the right man in charge?

No, because Steve Bruce has left! If Mike Phelan stays, probably. He already knows the players and that should limit the carnage a tiny bit. I think we’ve been lucky to avoid hiring Chris Coleman.

What do you expect from Liverpool this season?

To finish in the top four. Having had Klopp in charge last season will be massive given Chelsea, City and United are all getting used to new managers.

If you could have one Liverpool player in your team, who would it be?

Anyone that is fit!

Who will be the surprise package?

Middlesbrough have made some big signings and are built on solid foundations. I think they’ll be top 10.

What is your one wish for the season?

To limit the embarrassment as much as possible.
