Risa Shimizu joined Liverpool FC Women on a season-long loan from Manchester City in September 2025.
The Japan international defender boasts a wealth of experience in the Barclays Women's Super League, having also previously represented West Ham United.
She joined the Hammers in 2022, before making the move to City in 2024.
Ahead of that, Shimizu claimed an impressive 14 major honours in her homeland with Tokyo Verdy Beleza, where she started her professional career in 2013.
She has also represented Japan at two FIFA Women's World Cups (2019 and 2023) and also appeared at the 2020 and 2024 Olympics.
