MatchWSL: Eight stats to know ahead of Liverpool v West Ham

The Reds host the Hammers at Prenton Park in a 12pm GMT kick-off on Sunday.

Here are eight interesting facts to know ahead of the match...

Liverpool have won both of their last two league games and could record three victories in a row in the WSL for the first time since January 2018 (four in a row).

The Reds are unbeaten in their three WSL home games against West Ham (won two, drawn one) with each of those matches seeing two or fewer total goals scored (four for, one against).

Indeed, the last time Liverpool lost to West Ham in the WSL was back in February 2020, when the Hammers were managed by Matt Beard and claimed a 4-2 home win.

Beard took charge of 41 WSL fixtures with West Ham between 2018 and 2020 and is unbeaten in his four top-flight games as a manager against the Hammers since (drew one with Bristol City, won one and drawn two with Liverpool).

Marie Höbinger scored when the sides met in the reverse fixture back in October, but West Ham snatched a 1-1 draw through Riko Ueki's stoppage-time equaliser.

Since the beginning of last season, no team has lost more away games in the WSL than West Ham (12, level with Leicester City), who have conceded first in five of their last six league matches on the road.

However, West Ham have recorded seven points across their last four WSL games (won two, drawn one, lost one) – more than the number of points they won across their 12 league fixtures prior (six).

Only Khadija Shaw of Manchester City has scored more headed goals (six) in the 2023-24 WSL than Liverpool’s Sophie Roman Haug (three), who has also both contested (98) and won (64) the most aerial duels in the competition this season.
