NewsWomen's Asian Cup: Nagano and Shimizu help Japan finish group stage in style
Fuka Nagano and Risa Shimizu played as Japan beat Vietnam 4-0 to round off a perfect group stage at the AFC Women’s Asian Cup.
The Liverpool FC Women duo both started and finished their country’s final Group C game in Perth on Tuesday.
Japan’s comfortable victory saw them finish the first phase of the tournament having picked up nine points from their three games, while scoring 17 goals and conceding zero.
They will now face the Philippines in a quarter-final to be played in Sydney on Sunday.
