InterviewWhy signing a new contract with LFC Women was an 'easy decision' for Grace Fisk
Grace Fisk has explained why signing a new contract with Liverpool FC Women was an 'easy decision'.
Fisk has established herself as a consistent defensive presence and firm favourite with the Reds' supporters since her arrival from West Ham United in the summer of 2023.
After committing her future to the club, the 27-year-old sat down with Liverpoolfc.com at the AXA Melwood Training Centre to discuss the news.

On signing a new contract…
It feels really good and I'm really happy. Obviously, I've really been happy during my time at Liverpool so far and I'm happy to accept. I still can't believe it's only my second year here as it definitely feels like so much longer. It was a pretty easy decision for me in the end because I've loved my time here so far and look forward to the future.
On what she hopes to achieve with the club going forward…
The club is in a bit of transition at the moment but for me personally I'd like to think I've showed the club what I can do and what my potential could be. This season has obviously been a bit tricky for everyone and I've not necessarily been playing in my favourite position and stuff like that, but for the future it's really exciting.
We have such a good group of players, which, again, is a big part in why I wanted to stay because we do have such a good group and quality of players here. This year hasn't been what we hoped for bouncing off last season, but we want to build on that and we know we have the quality and the potential. So, as a club, we just hope we can keep improving.
On how the club and teammates have helped her to progress...
I really feel like I've been here so much longer than what I actually have. That's obviously the people making me feel comfortable and that's a really important part of football because when you feel comfortable off the pitch you are going to express yourself on the pitch. That has been a huge part for me, because in the first few weeks here I felt very at home, which then allowed me to perform on the pitch. I just want to help the team as much as possible. At the moment Amber [Whiteley] is playing me at right-back so I'm just trying my best there and helping the team as much as possible, and hopefully for the last push of the season we can get some good results.
On working under interim head coach Whiteley…
Really good. I've only known Amber as an assistant so it has been really interesting to see her step up and she has taken it in her stride and definitely demanded a lot of us as players. Training has been really good, the intensity is good. Team selection I'm sure is a massive headache for her because everyone is pushing. I'm really enjoying it and she cares about this club as much as we all do. So, it's like a breath of fresh air with her and it's exciting to see what happens.
On a change of formation under Whiteley…
I've been playing right-back and obviously I was at right wing-back before that. It's been a bit different for me this season because I've always played at centre-back and kind of known that role, but I just try to give my best at right-back. It's a totally different role but it's good to broaden your skills.
On having a special rapport with the supporters…
At home especially we feel their support, as well as away. And me especially, I feel pretty welcomed by them and they are a huge part of us. Their support is amazing and hopefully we can get some more success.
On the forthcoming Adobe Women's FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea…
It's huge, the FA Cup, the history of it and what it means. It's massive and we are really looking forward to it. We had a really good quarter-final win over Arsenal and we went and showed that we can beat the top teams. It would have been lovely to have had a home draw but I'm sure we will have our fans there with us, which will be really nice.
We've done it before and we've beaten the top teams. I know recent results have been quite up and down so we will be going in as the underdogs obviously, but we will be trying our best to get the result.
