FeatureWe Love You Liverpool: Meet Official LFC Supporters Club… Mumbai
Liverpool FC has more than 300 Official LFC Supporters Clubs (OLSCs) across 100 countries worldwide.
The Reds' fan base is famous for its passion and loyalty, cheering on both the men's and women's squads whether on Merseyside or watching from afar.
Our We Love You Liverpool feature aims to bring supporters closer together to learn more about each other wherever they are based around the globe.
Whether in the UK and Republic of Ireland, on Merseyside itself, in North or South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia or elsewhere, fans provide the very foundations the club is built on.
Here, we meet OLSC Mumbai...
Tell us about the OLSC…
Our journey began on June 1, 2008, when a small group of passionate Liverpool fans met at a park in central Mumbai for a casual kickabout. About 20 strangers came together that day, but from the very first moment it felt like family. That meeting sparked something special and from there, OLSC Mumbai was born and created to give Liverpool supporters an opportunity to come together, celebrate the club, and share the joy of being a fan.
Back then watching football in pubs was still a relatively new idea in Mumbai. Only a handful showed up for our first screening, but the passion was undeniable. By the end of the 2008-09 season we had built a regular crowd of over 50 fans.
Social media helped us grow and over time so did our community. Today, we have over 1,000 registered fans and more than 100 official members along with hundreds more who join us week in and week out. Some of our biggest screenings have seen close to two thousand supporters come together in true Liverpool spirit.
How special is it to have the supporters club where you are?
Mumbai is loud, fast, chaotic and full of dreams. In the middle of all that madness, to have a space where Liverpool fans can come together is something truly special. We may be far from Anfield, but every time we gather, it feels like we're right there on the Kop.
In a city where cricket dominates every corner, having a space that belongs to football lovers, especially Reds, feels like finding treasure. It's where we sing our hearts out, laugh at old memories, scream at missed chances and cry tears of joy or heartbreak.
This club is our second home, our little piece of L4 in the heart of Mumbai. It's where our red family comes alive and where we do everything we can to bring the Anfield atmosphere to life 4,000 miles away.
It must give you a sense of community and connection to Liverpool and the club…
Absolutely. When we received official recognition from LFC in 2013 and it felt like more than a milestone. It wasn't just about access to events, legends, or ticket opportunities. It was about being embraced by a family we had always felt part of.
We were no longer just a group of passionate fans watching from afar. We became a true extension of the club's spirit right here in Mumbai. Suddenly, every cheer, every song, every win and every loss felt even more personal. We found our voice in a global chorus.
The connection to Anfield, to the Kop, to Reds across the world, gives us strength. It reminds us that no matter where we are, we are part of something powerful and unbreakable. We knew then, and we know now, that we never walk alone.
What is so special about supporting Liverpool for your members?
It's the emotion. The history. The romance. Supporting Liverpool isn't just about football. It’s about feeling something deeper. From the pain of Hillsborough to the 'Miracle of Istanbul', from last-minute winners to songs passed down through generations; Liverpool stands for resilience, unity, and unwavering hope.
That spirit resonates deeply with us in Mumbai. Like Liverpool, our city lives by the sea. Both are proud port cities shaped by grit and graft and working-class roots with unshakable spirit. Life isn’t always easy here, but we show up, we fight and we stand by each other. Just like Liverpool.
We never supported this club just for the trophies, though they’re a proud part of its fabric. We supported it because Liverpool FC has been there for us in moments when we needed an escape. For those 90 minutes, our everyday worries fade away. No matter the result, we always leave with full hearts, surrounded by fellow Reds from across the city who’ve become like family. Supporting this club means being part of something words can’t fully capture. A connection that binds us for life and just like the city of Liverpool and the club itself, we welcome every new member with open arms, ready to pass that spirit forward.
Do you hold meet‑ups for games, or any special events throughout the year?
Yes, and always with fervour and passion. We host regular matchday screenings at our favourite pubs across Mumbai and the energy is always unreal and the closest thing to being at Anfield. Our Bollywood chants have become part of our identity, blending the melodies of Hindi cinema with the names of our Liverpool stars. It's loud, emotional, and uniquely ours.
It’s also been a privilege to host LFC legends; having the likes of Sami Hyypia, Luis Garcia, Robbie Fowler, Ian Rush, Vladimir Smicer, Jason McAteer and Steve McManaman with us in Mumbai was a truly proud and unforgettable moment for the supporters’ club.
One thing we are especially proud of is our internal football league. Liverpool Mumbai is the only supporters club in the country to have run a full season league with multiple match weeks. From kick-offs to trophies, it brought our community even closer and kept the love for the game alive between matchdays.
Beyond football, we’re deeply committed to giving back. We regularly organise blood donation drives, help raise funds for local community kitchens, and support the underprivileged with essentials whenever we can. It’s our way of living the Liverpool values of care and unity.
Has the OLSC ever visited Anfield? If so, what was the experience like? If not, is it on your list of things to do?
Yes, many of our members have been fortunate enough to visit Anfield and it's hard to put that experience into words. It used to feel like a distant dream, something we only imagined from thousands of miles away. But over time, that dream turned into reality. Thanks to the incredible support OLSCs around the world receive from the club.
For those of us who've made that trip to Anfield, we know how deeply special it is. Just stepping into the city of Liverpool is emotional. Members often speak of their eyes welling up the first time they catch sight of Anfield, or even when they first walk through the streets of the city they've admired from afar. It feels like coming home.
Being on the Kop, singing your heart out with fellow Reds, is powerful beyond belief. You don't have to be a Liverpool supporter to sense the magic of Anfield, but being part of that world-famous choir, carrying our little flag among thousands, cheering on the Reds we adore... that's something that leaves your heart full.
We're also endlessly grateful to the people of Liverpool. They are the soul of the city: warm, welcoming and full of heart. Time and again, they've made our members feel like locals, like family. And that's what makes Liverpool not just a football city, but one of the best places on the planet.
What is your favourite memory together as an OLSC?
It's hard to pick just one, but two moments stand out that will live with us forever.
The first was the 2019 Champions League final. Over 1,300 Liverpool fans packed into a single venue in Mumbai, watching every second together. When we lifted the trophy for the sixth time, the roar was deafening. It was our first major trophy celebration since becoming an official Supporters Club in 2013, and after seven long years of waiting, seeing the Reds lift the silverware was indescribable.
The second was the Tottenham game last season when we sealed the Premier League title. It was the first time we truly celebrated a title moment together, side by side, in a packed our pub: Raasta Bombay. Years of waiting, of near-misses and heartbreaks, all led to that night. That moment of release, shared with our community, and following that up with five Reds from Mumbai witnessing us lift the number 20 at Anfield a few weeks later. Getting to experience that in person on May 25, 2025, after a lifetime of waiting for most of us was beyond words.
Lastly, if anyone else is interested in joining your OLSC, how would they go about doing so?
