Grace Fisk feels Liverpool FC Women can take plenty of positives from their display in Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at Chelsea.

The Reds lost at Kingsmeadow in the Barclays Super League as the hosts twice showed their attacking ruthlessness with goals either side of half-time by Sjoeke Nusken and Lauren James.

Gareth Taylor’s side carved out several opportunities of their own but were unable to find the finishing touch to beat Chelsea goalkeeper Hannah Hampton.

Captain Fisk said afterwards: “I think there was a lot of the game that was really positive. I think we’ve lost games and we’ve been really unhappy with how we performed, but we didn’t [feel that] coming away from the game today.

“We had large spells in the game that we played really well. We showed we could play really nice football against top opposition and they just have two quality moments. Obviously when LJ [James] cuts in like that you've just got to hold your hands up at that point and make it 2-0.

“We had similar chances – [in the] first five or 10 minutes of the second half we had a couple of chances at the edge of the box and just couldn’t execute. But yeah, it was a good game we can take a lot of positives from it.

“Obviously, Chelsea played a lot of world-class players and they show up in world-class moments. So, that shows and that’s fine but we have a really good team and a really good belief in ourselves and what we can do, and I think we can walk away here pretty proud of how it happened.

“I think we’re a lot more confident now as a team and we believe that we’re going to score in every game, whereas maybe in the first half of the season that’s what we lacked.

“If we went behind we weren’t sure where we were going to get goals from, whereas now we feel like we’re a threat from different areas which is really good. We all fully believe in the way we’re playing.”
