Alejandra Bernabe has shared the excitement felt within the Liverpool FC Women squad as they aim to end the season on a real high.

With just three games remaining in the Barclays Women’s Super League, Gareth Taylor’s side also have an Adobe Women’s FA Cup semi-final to come at home against Brighton & Hove Albion next month.

The Reds return to action on Sunday after the April international break, hosting West Ham United at St Helens Stadium.

Having recovered from a tough start to the season, Taylor’s charges have been much-improved since the turn of the year, including victories in each of their last four games in St Helens.

Ahead of the clash with the Hammers, left-back Bernabe spoke with Liverpoolfc.com about her hopes for the run-in, why she is feeling in a great place personally after returning from injury, and more.

On the excellent form of the team…

We are in a really good place. We have been working very hard and have picked up some great results so I do think we are in a great moment.

On an exciting end to the season with the FA Cup semi-final against Brighton to come…

It’s a really good competition and we have done well so far. We have an opportunity to try to win something and we do have that in our minds, but we have three important WSL games first and it’s important that we keep going and get more points. We are in a good place, we have a lot of confidence and we want to keep our good form going.

On Sunday’s game at St Helens Stadium and the fantastic support the team have been given there this season…

Our fans have been amazing. They are so important to us and we need that push from them. It is so good when you are playing and you feel the support from them. We are really looking forward to this game and seeing our supporters again.

On the big difference the January signings have made to the squad…

I think they all really helped us a lot. We want to give it a big push now right through to the end of the season. It is true that we have had a lot of injuries this season unfortunately, but the new players have come in and done really well.

On the strong competition for the left-back slot, competing with Wales international Lily Woodham…

Lily is a really good player and it’s really good competition but this is football and it’s opportunities sometimes for you and then somebody else. We have a really good relationship and we always really help each other every day in training, pushing hard. I feel I’m in a good moment. I’m confident and I’m enjoying playing for this team. The start of the season was hard for me because of the injury. It was so difficult. But now I feel in a much better place and I feel completely fine. That allows me to enjoy my football again and stay fit.

On building a nice understanding down the left-hand side with Ceri Holland…

Ceri is a fantastic player and we have a really good connection. I love playing with her as she makes it so easy for me.
