Wataru Endo was left bitterly disappointed by the nature of Liverpool's defeat at AFC Bournemouth on Saturday.

Amine Adli's goal with the final kick of the game on the south coast secured a 3-2 victory for the Cherries in the Premier League.

The Reds were trailing 2-0 after the opening 33 minutes but recovered with efforts from Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai to set up an open finale, where the points could have gone either way.

Ultimately, they were snatched by the hosts when Adli converted from close range in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

"Of course the result we are disappointed about," Endo told Liverpoolfc.com post-match. "I think the second half was good. After [being] 2-0 down, we came back into the game and we scored two.

"I think in the last 10 minutes both deserved to score because we both had a chance to score. In the last moment, they scored unfortunately.

"The way we came back was great and we showed ourselves. I'm just disappointed about the result."

On the end-to-end nature of the conclusion, Endo assessed: "I think that's a game. They play at home, so they also want to score. We, of course, wanted to win this game away, we wanted to score in the end."

Endo was called upon to make his first appearance since early December as a result of the first-half injury to Joe Gomez, who collided with Alisson Becker while attempting to block Evanilson's opener.

The Japan international came off the bench to operate at centre-half immediately after Alex Jimenez netted Bournemouth's second of the evening.

"I think it was a really difficult moment for me because Joe got injured and they scored the second one," Endo said. "We had to go more offensive.

"I think [in] a few moments I did good. Until we scored two, my performance, the team performance was OK. I wanted to win the game."
