AcademyU18s match report: Liverpool beat Fleetwood in pre-season friendly
Liverpool U18s beat Fleetwood Town 3-1 in a pre-season friendly at the Academy on Tuesday.
First-half goals from Joe Bradshaw and Finn Inglethorpe were added to by Josh Sonni-Lambie after the break as new head coach Simon Wiles’ first match in charge ended in victory.
After Bradshaw had given the young Reds the lead, Inglethorpe made it 2-0 on the half-hour mark with a fine individual effort.
Fleetwood pulled one back in the early stages of the second half but, with 15 minutes remaining, Sonni-Lambie found the top corner from the edge of the penalty area to make sure of Liverpool’s win.
Wiles’ team’s league season gets under way with a trip to Stoke City on Saturday August 16 (11am BST kick-off).
