Sofie Lundgaard detailed Liverpool FC Women’s determination to bounce back from last weekend’s Adobe Women’s FA Cup exit when they host West Ham United at Prenton Park.

Danish midfielder Lundgaard was one of the shining lights in the 2-0 defeat by Leicester City, impressing in the absence of the injured Fuka Nagano.

The 21-year-old has had to remain patient for her opportunity, but hard work in training has led to her seizing her chance in the side.

The Reds, meanwhile, are looking to continue their impressive form in the Barclays Women’s Super League when they entertain the Hammers on Sunday afternoon (12pm GMT kick-off).

Read on as Lundgaard speaks with Liverpoolfc.com about her happiness at earning regular game time and previews the upcoming test…

On enjoying an extended run in the team in the past few games…

I am really enjoying it. The last couple of weeks it’s been really nice, I’ve been getting more minutes and really enjoying it. Hopefully I can keep it going and keep improving and help the team.

On being patient and working hard to get her opportunity...

I feel like the only thing I can do is keep my head down and work hard. I’m just happy it has finally paid off. I just think it’s about consistency. I feel like I’ve been doing well in training for a long time now and it’s great to take it into the games as well.

On being still a young player getting used to playing in the WSL…

I am just taking in everything that I can and learning off the experienced players. I am really enjoying playing against good opponents every single week and I am just trying to learn every single day.

On the FA Cup defeat by Leicester…

It is frustrating still to think about that game. It was a good chance for us to make it through to the semi-finals, so we were very disappointed. But we just have to look forward now and get ready for the game on Sunday.

On Sunday’s home meeting with West Ham…

For sure we are ready. We really need to use this game on Sunday to show that last week was not our standards. The whole team is ready to put in a good performance this weekend. We have had a good season so far and everyone has been a part of it. We feel we have got a good squad.

On playing in front of the home supporters at Prenton Park and the difference they make to the team…

It’s always nice. They show up week in, week out, and they give us amazing support. The fact that we can hear our fans every single week is just amazing and it’s just something that I really enjoy.

On recently earning a call-up to the Denmark senior squad…

It was a proud moment. It was a milestone I have been reaching for for a long, long time and the family came down. I don’t know if I was surprised but I was really happy to get the call-up.
