NewsRevealed: Alexander Isak's shirt number at Liverpool

The striker selected the famous squad number after completing his transfer from Newcastle United on deadline day.

Previous occupiers of the No.9 shirt at the Reds include Ian St John, Steve Heighway, Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler, Fernando Torres and Roberto Firmino.

Isak inherits the number from Darwin Nunez, who wore it for two seasons until his departure to Al-Hilal last month.

On opting for the number, he told Liverpoolfc.com: "It means a lot, it's an iconic number.

"Obviously it comes with a responsibility as well but I'm delighted to have this chance and to get this number.

"I'm just motivated to start working and hopefully giving back as well."
