Season so far

The Bees' unbeaten start to 2026-27 continued with a 2-2 draw away at Aston Villa last weekend.

They enter matchweek seven occupying fourth place in the Premier League table on 10 points, with their two victories both 3-0 home wins over Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.

Keith Andrews' side have also beaten Birmingham City and Reading to progress to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

Key players

Vitaly Janelt, who was recently handed his first Germany cap by Jürgen Klopp, has played every minute of Brentford's Premier League campaign.

The defensive midfielder leads the division for interceptions with 20 (four more than second-ranked James Tarkowski) and is joint-third for total tackles. On the ball, he has attempted more passes than any other Bees player (265).

Kristoffer Ajer and former Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher are their two other ever-presents in the top flight.

Kevin Schade is top scorer with three goals and Jaidon Anthony has produced a team-high four assists in all competitions.

Team news

Schade and Jannik Schuster had to be substituted last time out against Villa but have been in training this week.

Recovering from injuries, Nathan Collins, Mikkel Damsgaard and ex-Red Sepp van den Berg are 'closer' said Andrews at his pre-match press conference.

Josh Dasilva, Kaye Furo and Antoni Milambo are sidelined.

Previous meetings

Liverpool were beaten 3-2 on their most recent visit to Gtech Community Stadium, this time last year.

The sides then met at Anfield on the final day of 2025-26, playing out a 1-1 draw.

What they said

Brentford head coach Andrews

"Liverpool from last season to this season, a new coach in charge who we obviously know really well from his days at Bournemouth. I think you're starting to see his team in recent weeks.

"The way we approach games, we have a fearless way of playing. We want to earn the right to play; we have to do that against top opposition, which we're facing every week. You've got to earn that right.

"You've got to stop them playing the game they want and you've got to try to imprint your game on them as much as possible. That's essentially what we try to do on a weekly basis."

Pre-match stats

  • The five Premier League meetings between the clubs at Gtech Community Stadium have seen 22 goals scored at an average of 4.4 per game, with both sides netting in four of them.

  • Brentford are unbeaten in eight Premier League games – the longest current run of any team.

  • The Bees last went more than two league matches against Liverpool without suffering defeat between April 1936 and November 1937 (four).

  • They have not lost any of their last eight Premier League home fixtures (won three, drawn five), keeping clean sheets in four of the last six.
