Special presentations took place in tribute to four departing Liverpool FC Women players at Anfield on Sunday.

Ahead of the Merseyside derby with Everton – the last home game of 2024-25 – captain Niamh Fahey, Yana Daniels, Jasmine Matthews and Teagan Micah were welcomed onto the pitch by their teammates and the home fans to receive flowers on behalf of the club.

Fahey has announced her retirement from professional football at the end of the current season, concluding a seven-year spell with the Reds, five of which have been as skipper.

Daniels, Matthews and Micah, meanwhile, are set to leave Liverpool upon the expiration of their contracts this summer, with each having helped the side re-establish themselves at Barclays Women’s Super League level.

“I think it’s so important when players leave the club that they leave in the right way and we celebrate them and we give the fans the opportunity to celebrate them too,” said interim head coach Amber Whiteley.

“I thought that was a really nice touch before the game and same for them too. I’m just disappointed that we didn’t get the result over the line for them.

“But each of them have been outstanding servants for the club.”
