Get the lowdown on West Ham United ahead of Liverpool's trip to face Nuno Espirito Santo's side on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League.

Season so far

Following a tricky start to the campaign that saw West Ham sit in the relegation zone, they are now unbeaten in their last three Premier League outings.

The Hammers switched managers and appointed Nuno in late September, and his arrival has seen an uptick in form in recent weeks.

They defeated Newcastle United and Burnley at London Stadium ahead of earning a 2-2 draw away at AFC Bournemouth last weekend.

As a result, they entered the weekend sitting 17th in the standings, outside the bottom three on goal difference.

Key players

In the Premier League, Callum Wilson is West Ham's top scorer having netted on four occasions this season.

Jarrod Bowen also has three goals and one assist to his name, while Lucas Paqueta has struck on three occasions also.

Midfielder Tomas Soucek has scored twice for the Hammers.

Previous meetings

Liverpool overcame West Ham in both Premier League clashes in 2024-25.

Away from home last December, the Reds claimed an emphatic 5-0 victory.

Then in the reverse meeting at Anfield, Arne Slot's men earned a 2-1 result.

Team news

West Ham could welcome Konstantinos Mavropanos and Crysencio Summerville back from injury this weekend.

Lucas Paqueta is also available once again after serving a one-match suspension.

However, Oliver Scarles has missed their last three Premier League games after undergoing surgery on a fractured collarbone, and Lukasz Fabianski is a long-term absentee.

What they said

West Ham head coach Nuno

"What I make of [Liverpool] is they are a good team. In football what matters is what you do on the day and what we expect [to face] is the champions of the Premier League and players who are talented and capable. We have to get ready."

Pre-match stats

  • West Ham have won just one of their last 18 Premier League games against Liverpool (drew three, lost 14), beating the Reds 3-2 at London Stadium in November 2021.
  • They have won seven points from their three Premier League games in November (won two, drew one), almost twice as many as they managed in August, September and October combined (four points – won one, drew one, lost seven).
  • The Hammers have won each of their last two home Premier League games having gone winless in their previous nine. They last won three on the bounce on home soil in a single season in October 2022.
