Neve McDonald has signed her first professional contract at Liverpool FC Women.

The 18-year-old put pen to paper on the deal today at the AXA Melwood Training Centre.

"It's a very proud moment for me and my family," McDonald told Liverpoolfc.com. "I'm really grateful to be in this position and I can't wait to get going and get started.

"My family have obviously done a lot for me over the years, and I wouldn't be in this position without that. It's a big thank you to them and my brother, because if it wasn't for him I probably wouldn't be playing.

"It means everything to pull on the Liverpool shirt every day. Growing up, everyone wants to play football professionally and live out their dream. Now I am so it's a really happy moment for me."

McDonald has made one senior appearance for the Reds to date, which came as a substitute during a Women's League Cup meeting with Everton in December 2024.

She was named in Gareth Taylor's matchday squad on five occasions last season.

The Scotland U19 international added: "I just want to learn and improve every day, taking it all in my stride.

"First and foremost, I'm currently on a rehab plan so hopefully I can get out on the pitch and be back in training and out on the pitch.

"Gareth has really helped me push myself and I've already learned a lot from him and his staff. Everyone knows his experience and how much he supports young players."

Leandra Little, LFC Women Pro Game Academy manager, said: "All of the Pro Game Academy staff team are immensely proud of Neve. It is a special moment when an Academy graduate signs their first professional contract.

"Neve has a great deal of potential and has worked extremely hard for this opportunity, and we are excited to see what the future holds for her."
