Liverpool U21s beat Preston North End 2-0 in a friendly at the Academy.

Amara Nallo and Finn Inglethorpe, on his first appearance at U21 level, got the goals for the young Reds on Wednesday afternoon.

Head coach Rob Page told Liverpoolfc.com: “It was a good performance. We’re off the back of giving the players a couple of days off because it’s the international break and after an excellent performance against Chesterfield in the Vertu Trophy.

“We had a couple of days of training before today and it was a physical game, it was a friendly that we really enjoyed because there was that physical element to it.

“It was about giving the lads minutes on the pitch. Most of them played 45 minutes, with some playing a little bit more.

“So, it was a worthwhile exercise with lots of positives and for Finn Inglethorpe to get his goal on his debut for the U21s was a special moment for him as well.”
