Liverpool U18s' first friendly of their 2026-27 pre-season programme ended in a 2-0 defeat at home to Crewe Alexandra.
The young Reds fell behind after seven minutes on Saturday through a Lucas Swann penalty.
Erik Farkas and Finn Inglethorpe both had chances to equalise in the first of the two 30-minute halves.
James Hilditch then pulled off a fine save at point-blank range to ensure the score was 1-0 at the break.
La'more Lee Forrester, Luca Eden and Zak Coxon all went close for Liverpool, before Zane Whelan doubled the visitors' lead from close range.
Coxon had an effort cleared off the line and Charlie Phillips was denied by the post later in the second period.
