Victor Munoz went closest to scoring for the Reds, the forward hitting the crossbar with a header in the first half, but Saturday’s Premier League game ended goalless.

Andoni Iraola therefore remains unbeaten as head coach, though Liverpool have now drawn three of their four top-flight matches so far this season.

Team

Bradley Barcola was fit to start with Iraola making three changes from Wednesday’s win against Atletico Madrid.

Munoz, Ryan Gravenberch and Kostas Tsimikas were the players to come into the starting XI, while Cody Gakpo returned as a substitute following his absence in midweek.

First half

Alexander Isak shot wide from a tight angle before, at the other end, Jeremy Jacquet made a goalline clearance to deny Gonzalo Garcia after Alisson Becker had played Gravenberch into trouble inside the Liverpool penalty area.

The adventure of both teams meant the opening 20 minutes were end to end, though also scrappy as neither could produce the necessary quality or incision to open the scoring.

A set-piece so nearly afforded Liverpool an avenue to do so when Munoz struck the woodwork with a header from Dominik Szoboszlai’s corner, but it was Fulham who began to look more threatening in open play.

Josh King had two attempts on goal before Antonee Robinson directed a header wide, although the final chance of the half was the Reds’ as Barcola’s back-post volley was blocked by Timothy Castagne.

Second half

Liverpool re-emerged from the interval with a greater sense of urgency and Isak saw a low shot saved after he had worked himself an opening on the edge of the box.

Then, after Calvin Bassey had headed straight at Alisson from a corner, Szoboszlai linked up nicely with substitute Alexis Mac Allister prior to seeing his powerful hit repelled by Bernd Leno.

The Reds were finally building up something of a head of steam and Barcola tried to find Isak with a cut-back rather than shooting, before Iraola made his final changes by bringing on Jeremie Frimpong and Rio Ngumoha.

A Fulham attack ended with Alisson thwarting King and both sides then pushed forward in search of a late winner.

Liverpool had two opportunities to snatch victory in stoppage time, as Isak glanced a corner wide before Ngumoha sent Frimpong’s cross over the bar, but the points were shared.
