Liverpool FC and Joseph Roberts launch 'Built Different' poetry collection
Liverpool FC has launched ‘Built Different’, an official club publication featuring a collection of new and favourite poems from award-winning poet, spoken-word artist and lifelong Reds fan Joseph Roberts.

A tribute to LFC, the city of Liverpool and the people who make both so special, Built Different captures the emotions, experiences and sense of belonging that unite supporters across generations and around the world.
Published by Reach Sport, the collection explores the unique bond between football, community and identity. From the highs of victory to the heartbreak of defeat, the poems reflect the moments and emotions that define life as a football supporter and the power of the game to bring people together.
Written in his distinctive Scouse voice, Roberts’ work blends humour, honesty and powerful storytelling. The collection features a selection of new poems alongside some of his most popular pieces, celebrating everything from the everyday realities of being a lifelong Red to the culture, character and resilience that define Liverpool as a city.
His work spans a wide range of subjects, from tackling racism in football to celebrating the humour, resilience and everyday experiences that come with being a supporter and proud Scouser.
“I’ve always believed Liverpool is a city built on stories, and Liverpool FC is at the heart of so many of them,” said Roberts.
“Through Built Different, I wanted to capture some of the emotions, memories and moments that supporters carry with them, whether they’re from Liverpool or following the club from the other side of the world.
“These poems are a celebration of the people, the passion and the sense of belonging that make this club and this city so special.”
Built Different is available now from official LFC stores and online here.
