Alejandro Rosalen has been appointed as Liverpool’s new first-team goalkeeping coach.

The 49-year-old Spaniard joins Andoni Iraola’s backroom staff, replacing Xavi Valero, who has now departed the Reds after a second spell with the club in 2025-26.

Rosalen arrives on Merseyside with a wealth of experience as a goalkeeper coach.

His most recent position was at Serie A side Napoli, from 2021 to this summer. While there, Rosalen contributed to Napoli lifting the Scudetto on two occasions (2022-23 and 2024-25).

He had previously spent eight years with Fiorentina in Italy, a period that followed a single season at Hungarian outfit Videoton.

Rosalen’s coaching career had begun in Valencia’s academy, where he stayed for eight years.
