Gareth Taylor offered an update on the condition of his Liverpool FC Women squad ahead of Friday night's visit to Manchester City.

The Reds are set to remain without Anna Josendal, Mao Itamura, Lucy Parry and Mari Ward when they take on the reigning Barclays Women's Super League champions.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, head coach Taylor said: "We're getting closer to seeing Lucy Parry joining back with the team, and Mari Ward. I think it's going to be a little bit too soon for them.

"Mao Itamura is back on-pitch but, again, [it is] too soon for her.

"A couple of little niggles from last weekend's game because it was quite a highly physical game.

"I think it's going to be a challenging period for us once this game is done – we play again Wednesday, we play again Sunday and then repeat that the following week.

"I think with the additional issues of player availability, the likes of Anna Josendal, that will be a challenging period for us.

"At this moment in time, playing each weekend has been OK and we're able to play the game that we want to play."
