Gareth Taylor issued a comprehensive update on the fitness of his Liverpool FC Women squad during a pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon.

The Reds host Chelsea in the Barclays Women's Super League on Sunday lunchtime in a 12pm GMT kick-off at St Helens Stadium.

Ahead of the contest, Taylor sat down to answer questions from the media at the AXA Melwood Training Centre and gave the latest on the health and availability of his players.

"Gemma Bonner and Lucy Parry are back in training," the head coach revealed. "We should be able to get them for some kind of time if needed on the weekend.

"Alejandra [Bernabe] is still building up but is training with the team. Hopefully by next week we can start to consider her for the squad also.

"Marie's [Höbinger] surgery went well last week. Sophie Roman Haug will have her surgery next week. Zara Shaw is also close to returning to the team probably in December for training.

"It's quite good to be able to get Gemma Bonner and Lucy Parry a little bit closer to the team."
