Liverpool U21s played out a 1-1 pre-season friendly draw with Caernarfon Town on Saturday afternoon.

Jake Cain opened the scoring for the Reds on 17 minutes, though the Welsh outfit earned themselves a late leveller through Osian Evans.

Boss Barry Lewtas fielded the experience of player-coach Jay Spearing alongside the likes of Layton Stewart and Oakley Cannonier at the Academy.

Jack Bearne’s clever play down the right led to the first goal of the encounter, as he weaved in and out to produce a ball for Cain to score with a left-footed drilled finish.

Goalkeeper Liam Hughes was forced into an excellent save by the visitors, while Terence Miles denied what appeared to be a certain goal with a perfectly timed challenge.

Cannonier and Mateusz Musialowski both went close to adding to the scoreline and Stewart was denied from close range twice in the second period.

Caernarfon Town equalised late on following a swift counter-attack, which saw Evans finish off a clever move to see the fixture end all-square.
