ClubLFC International Academy hosts coaches convention in Liverpool
Liverpool FC's International Academy last week hosted coaches from around the world at its coaches convention.
The convention focuses on coach education, with experts from across LFC hosting sessions and presenting to staff from the club's youth development programmes around the world.
In total, 30 coaches from LFC International Academies were able to attend in-person and were treated to a packed schedule.
The event was opened on Wednesday by first-team assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders, who spoke at length about his career journey as a coach, working alongside Jürgen Klopp and the progress of young players into Liverpool's senior side.
Later in the day, coaches also had presentations from head of safeguarding John Pout and additional technical coaching content from LFC staff before ending the day with a tour of Anfield and an evening event with former players John Aldridge and Jason McAteer.
On Thursday, focus shifted to the AXA Training Centre where attendees were given a tour of the impressive facility before sitting down for a nutritional insight, sampling some of the foods the players eat to prepare for training and matches.
First-team psychologist Lee Richardson presented to the group in the afternoon before the coaches observed some Academy training sessions in the evening.
It was back to Anfield on Friday for a presentation from LFC Women managing director Russ Fraser, before the group headed over to The Campus to observe the team preparing for their crucial league game against Durham. Manager Matt Beard also took part in a Q&A session pitchside immediately after the session.
With coaches then attending the LFC Legends game on Saturday before supporting LFC Women at Prenton Park on Sunday, it was a week that delivered an enormous amount of value and one they won’t forget for a long time.
Dan White, head of LFC's International Academy, said: “It has been three years since we have been able to deliver this programme in person, so it was fantastic for us to be able to host the group here in Liverpool this year.
“This event gives us an opportunity to share unique insight from LFC staff with our coaches, ensuring that they can deliver an authentic LFC experience at our academies around the world.
“We’ve had some brilliant feedback from those who attended and it’s clear that they have taken a lot of value out of the event, as well as having a great time in Liverpool.”
