Former Liverpool FC Women midfielder Laura Coombs has announced she will retire from football at the end of this season.

The England international, capped seven times, joined the Reds from Chelsea, initially on loan, in 2016 before making the move permanent.

She totalled 74 appearances for the club and scored seven goals.

Coombs’ professional career began at Arsenal, prior to her spells with Chelsea and Liverpool.

She has spent the last seven years with Manchester City, who will host Gareth Taylor’s current Reds side in the Barclays Women’s Super League on Sunday.
