Former Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has announced his retirement from football.

Signed from Charlton Athletic in May 2010, Shelvey made his debut for the club in the September of that year.

He went on to total 69 appearances for the Reds across all competitions and scored seven times, with his spell including a loan move to Blackpool.

Shelvey left Anfield to link up with Swansea City in 2013 and later represented Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, Caykur Rizespor, Eyupspor, Burnley and Arabian Falcons.

He was also capped six times at senior level by England.

Now 34, Shelvey has called time on his playing career and immediately been appointed manager of Arabian Falcons in the United Arab Emirates.
