NewsInternationals: Wirtz captains Germany and Dutch win on special night for Van Dijk
Five Liverpool players took to the pitch during Sunday’s round of international fixtures.
It was a special night for Virgil van Dijk as he made his 100th appearance for the Netherlands, against Serbia in Eindhoven.
The centre-back was able to mark it with victory, too, captaining the Dutch to a 2-1 win in the UEFA Nations League tie.
Ryan Gravenberch was also in the starting XI and featured for an hour, while Jeremie Frimpong remained on the bench.
In Thessaloniki, Kostas Tsimikas’ Greece met Florian Wirtz’s Germany, with the latter wearing the captain’s armband for his country.
It ended in a goalless stalemate and both Reds completed the full game.
Lewis Koumas started for Wales and was involved for 56 minutes as they lost 1-0 at home to Denmark.
