Kostas Tsimikas registered an assist as Greece beat Kazakhstan 5-0 in Thursday’s European Championship qualification play-off semi-final.

The Liverpool left-back, who played the full 90 minutes, provided the cross for Dimitrios Kourbelis to head in his side’s fourth goal of the evening shortly before half-time.

Greece went on to add a fifth in the closing stages in Athens to book a play-off final away to Georgia on Tuesday. The winners of that tie will join Czechia, Portugal and Turkey in Group F at Euro 2024 this summer.

Earlier in the day, Wataru Endo was a second-half introduction in Japan’s win over Korea DPR in Asian qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.

The midfielder entered the action in Tokyo in the 58th minute as his country claimed a 1-0 victory courtesy of Ao Tanaka’s early goal.
