Darwin Nunez scored for Uruguay as Tuesday's international fixtures saw a host of Liverpool players feature.

Summer signing Nunez was on target to help his country beat Canada 2-0 in a friendly clash played in Bratislava.

The striker provided the second goal of the afternoon encounter in the 33rd minute with a downward header from Luis Suarez’s cross and completed an hour.

In the UEFA Nations League, Diogo Jota started Portugal’s final League A Group 2 fixture, at home against Spain in Braga, and went on to play 78 minutes.

A late winner for the visitors clinched a 1-0 result that gave them top spot and a place in the tournament’s final phase next summer, alongside Croatia, Italy and the Netherlands.

Also in the Nations League, Kostas Tsimikas played all of Greece’s 3-1 victory over a Northern Ireland team for whom on-loan Reds defender Conor Bradley clocked up 67 minutes.

Elsewhere, Alisson Becker was involved for the whole of Brazil’s 5-1 friendly defeat of Tunisia at Parc des Princes, where Fabinho and Roberto Firmino were unused substitutes.

Several Liverpool players were also involved in action for England’s youth teams.

Harvey Elliott started and featured for 70 minutes of the U21s’ friendly encounter with Germany at Bramall Lane, which they came from behind to win 3-1, while James Balagizi made a 75th-minute substitute appearance as the U20s saw off Australia 3-0.

Luke Chambers provided two assists and hit the crossbar during the U19s’ 4-2 victory over Denmark in Euro qualifying. The left-back completed the tie, while Lee Jonas and Isaac Mabaya were late introductions from the bench.
