Vivien Endemann has shared her excitement as she embarks on a new chapter in her career with Liverpool FC Women.
The Germany international has now made the move to the Reds after her three-year spell with VfL Wolfsburg came to an end earlier this summer.
The 24-year-old forward, who has selected the No.9 shirt, cannot wait to get started on Merseyside and help move Gareth Taylor's side forward.
In her first interview since arriving, Endemann tells Liverpoolfc.com about her pride at signing for the club and her hopes for the future – read it below.
Vivien, a very warm welcome to Liverpool Football Club. How proud are you to be here?
Thank you very much. I am very proud to be here. Liverpool is such a big club with the history, so I'm very proud to be here.
Why Liverpool then? Why is this the perfect club for you?
Why not? Everything is good here, so it's perfect. The team is so good, the coaches, the team behind the team – everything is so perfect here.
You arrive from Wolfsburg. How tough a decision was that to depart, especially after three seasons there?
It was not an easy decision but I think I'm ready for the next step. It's a new league and the English league is one of the best in the world. So, I'm ready.
Did you speak with your family before making the move to Merseyside?
Yes, of course. My family is very important for me. I spoke a lot with them and they are so happy that I am here now.
Liverpool, of course, has a proud history with people from Germany – Jürgen Klopp, for example – so how proud are you to be the latest German to represent this club?
That makes me very proud. Everyone knows this club in Germany because of Klopp and I'm very happy to be here.
How impressed were you when you spoke to head coach Gareth Taylor and managing director Andy O'Boyle and the vision they have for this club?
I was very impressed. I think that it matched my vision for football and I liked the way they want to play. I liked how they know football and I'm just really excited to get started.
You have already played in the Champions League – would that be a dream to try to help Liverpool get back into that competition?
Yes, of course. But I think, first of all, we have to grow, everyone has to grow. We grow as a team and then we will see what we can achieve.
Have you spoken with Gareth about how he sees you fitting into this team?
Yes, and I think I can fit into the team really well. I'm new so I will adapt to the team, and I'm just really excited to finally get started with the team and can't wait for the first match.
You have taken the famous No.9 jersey at Liverpool – are you looking forward to wearing it?
Yes, I am very honoured to wear this shirt number. When I first played in Germany, I wore No.25. Now, as it's a new league, it's time for a new number. I hope I can do well with the pressure I have wearing this number.
For our fans welcoming you here, just tell us a little bit about your strengths as a player and what you hope to bring to this team…
I think I am a player who will always give my best. I hate to lose a game, so I will give my all for this team and for the club. I love scoring goals and making assists.
How much are you looking forward to playing in the Barclays Women's Super League?
I think this is a really good league, maybe one of the best in the world. It's a very competitive league and I think every game is very competitive. I'm really looking forward to it.
Are you looking forward to exploring the city and seeing your new surroundings?
I have already seen a little bit and it was very nice. I'm looking forward to seeing more new things here.
The fans here are so passionate about the team. How much are you looking forward to meeting them? I can assure you they will have a song for you at some point…
I'm really looking forward to meeting them and celebrating with them in the stadium. Hopefully we can have a good season.
