NewsHugo Ekitike explains positive philosophy amid injury 'challenge'
Hugo Ekitike is determined to maintain a positive mindset amid his current enforced lay-off due to injury.
The Liverpool forward sustained an Achilles tendon rupture during the Reds’ Champions League fixture against Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield in April.
That misfortune immediately ruled Ekitike out of the remainder of a debut season with the club in which he scored 17 goals.
It also cruelly denied him the likely opportunity to be part of the France squad competing at this summer’s World Cup.
Asked about the disappointment by GQ Magazine during an interview, Ekitike said: “Obviously I’m in touch with them [the French players] but not a lot because they’re busy playing and I’m busy with my recovery.
“I wish I was there, but that’s life. I am where I am, and sometimes everybody has to deal with stuff.
“That’s my challenge and I accepted it so I’m happy for them and I hope they’re going to reach the final, win it, and bring the cup back to France.”
