Arne Slot highlighted Ryan Gravenberch's ongoing development as a 'great example' after the midfielder recently signed a new deal at Liverpool.

The 23-year-old put pen to paper on a fresh long-term contract at the Reds last week to extend his three-year spell with the club into the coming seasons.

Gravenberch made the move to Merseyside from Bundesliga outfit Bayern Munich in September 2023 and has since established himself as a vital member of Slot's side.

He played a key role in the Reds' lifting of the Premier League title last term, which added to a Carabao Cup triumph in 2024.

Asked about the No.38's role in his team and squad, Slot told his pre-Tottenham Hotspur press conference on Friday: "I prefer not to rank them [the midfield] in the following order.

"They're all different profiles for different positions, but it's obvious and clear that me and the club sees the importance of him and how much he developed. As a result of that, he signed a new contract.

"[He's] another young player, which was signed very young as you know from our model and has the ability to grow.

"I think he is a great example of that. His first season was maybe not at the level as he was last season, but that is completely normal if you sign young players that have to adjust first to the Premier League and there's a lot to come from them.

"That has been our model even before I was here and that's still our model - signing younger players, who have got the chance here in this great environment with such great facilities and with so many great people working here to improve those players for them to develop. Then when their peak is coming, and that's usually when they are a bit older, they are still playing for us."
