ReactionGrace Fisk on Charlton goals, LFC Women 'momentum' and more
Grace Fisk wants Liverpool FC Women to utilise the 'momentum' from their opening day victory over Charlton Athletic.
The Reds will return home to St Helens Stadium on Sunday afternoon for a 2pm BST kick-off against Tottenham Hotspur.
Gareth Taylor’s outfit secured an impressive and clinical 4-0 victory over The Addicks last weekend to begin their Barclays Women’s Super League campaign.
Fisk scored twice at The Valley, while debutant Vivien Edemann also found the back of the net, alongside a Cornelia Kapocs penalty.
Read on for the captain's thoughts on the win and more below…
On scoring twice at Charlton...
Yeah, I mean the first one was obviously just a tap-in. That was just good to get us off the mark. The second one was obviously a nicer finish. We're just so delighted that we got the win, a clean sheet and comfortable performance. It's definitely something to build on.
On Vivien Endemann's debut...
She's such a threat out wide and one-v-one, crosses and creating chances for us. It was really positive for us for her to get off the mark with a goal. We've seen it all pre-season what she can do. It was a great team performance, but Viv played really well.
On whether Gareth Taylor's vision is starting to come across on the pitch...
Definitely. Of course it's just the first game of the season, but we still have to come here and do a job and I think we did that. It's a long season. We know that, but it took us a long time to get three points last season. The fact we've got it first game and in a really convincing way is really positive for us and we're really excited about the season. The staff really believe in us, we really believe, and we hope from that the fans are happy.
On how important it will be to use the 'momentum' from victory going forward...
Obviously we're at home next week, which will be really nice to have our first home game in front of the fans. We want to keep the momentum going. We've had a great pre-season, a great opening match, but we know the tests will just keep getting tougher. We have to keep training at a really high intensity and keep pushing on and hopefully we'll keep having success.
