Gareth Taylor's reaction to Liverpool's WSL defeat by Aston Villa
Gareth Taylor rued Liverpool’s failure to maximise their first-half dominance after Aston Villa came from behind to win 2-1 in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

A stunning, long-range strike by Natalia Ramos put the Reds a goal up early on in Sunday’s match at Keys Park, with Taylor’s team in the ascendancy throughout the opening 45 minutes.
But Villa came out fighting after the break and levelled through Chastity Grant, before an own goal by Grace Fisk settled the contest in their favour.
“Really disappointed, it’s a game we shouldn’t lose,” Liverpool head coach Taylor said.
“It takes us to score a really good goal from Natalia [to go ahead]. It’s that final ball – it is hard to play against a back five but in the first half we had total control of the game.
“Second half they changed to a back four so the spaces are there for us, but we don’t work the goalkeeper enough. We have a lot of the ball and then the game is changing, they have their physicality and we don’t defend our attacking corner well and concede on the counter-attack. It’s a hard one to take.
“With all of the play that we have, we dominate teams, [but] the hardest thing in football is to putting the ball in the back of the net.”
