In his latest column, Liverpool FC Women head coach Gareth Taylor reflects on the opening-day win at Charlton Athletic and looks ahead to Sunday's meeting with Tottenham Hotspur.
I was really pleased with the way we started our season at Charlton. It was nice to get four goals and we could have easily scored more.
It was a really good start and I thought we managed to carry on and continue our form that we showed in the pre-season.
I think it was important to gain confidence from this game by winning it and to win convincingly in the manner that we did was really pleasing.
There were a lot of positives to take. I thought it was a good team performance. There are areas we can certainly improve on but we stepped up our level in the second half.

Watch on YouTubeThere were some notable mentions as well as debuts for our new players, with Herby [Marie Höbinger] back in there and Sam Kerr starting a game after the back problem she had for a significant amount of time.
Our midfield looks strong this season and we have now got good options in there and it was nice as the game went on we were able to protect Ceri [Holland] and Viv [Endemann], as we are not particularly stacked in wide areas, particularly with the hamstring injury to Anna Josendal.
I gave Kirsty Maclean a start and she did well. In those types of games, where there is going to be tight spaces between lines, I think Kirsty comes into her own.
Viv was a real threat for us all game down the right side and I was pleased for her that she got her goal because that will give her confidence.
We had great support as always down at Charlton and it was really nice for our supporters to see a little bit of what we are and the evolvement of the team.
It is a good start for us but that's all it is, and we now need to build on that with Tottenham coming up on Sunday.
We are really looking forward to being back in front of our fans at St Helens Stadium. It will be a challenging game but we are looking forward to it.
