Florian Wirtz achieves chance creation figure unseen in Premier League for 15 years
Florian Wirtz recorded a rare statistic during Liverpool’s 2-1 win at Brentford on Saturday.
Goals from Victor Munoz and Alexander Isak in the second half bagged three points for the Reds in the Premier League.
They had trailed to a Keane Lewis-Potter header just before the break, while the Bees received red cards at the end of each half.
Amid a display that included an assist for Munoz’s goal and earned him the Carlsberg Player of the Match award, Wirtz created nine chances for his teammates from open play.
Opta reported that is the most by an individual in a Premier League game since Sadio Mane totalled nine for Liverpool versus Burnley in January 2021.
Meanwhile, it is the highest such figure for a player away from home for more than 15 years – Samir Nasri tallied 10 in August 2011.
