Reds in focus
Despite a disappointing result in Gameweek 6, both the Premier League and Champions League fixtures brought several positives for FPL managers looking to invest in Liverpool.
Jeremy Jacquet (£5.0m) was the Reds’ top scoring player in Gameweek 6. The defender collected defensive contribution points for the second time this season – with defenders registering those points for completing 10 or more defensive actions (clearances, blocks, interceptions and tackles) in a single match.
Jacquet registered 12 defensive actions in the game against Manchester City. He has also been unlucky not to register more defensive contribution points this season so far, having missed out by just one defensive action against Ipswich in Gameweek 3 and by just two against AFC Bournemouth in Gameweek 5.
Alexis Mac Allister (£5.4m) registered a team-leading four shots in Gameweek 6 and was also tied top with Bradley Barcola (£8.0m) and Ryan Gravenberch (£5.8m) for chances created.
Meanwhile, in the Champions League victory over LASK in midweek, there was a hat-trick for Barcola, alongside goals for Ronald Araujo (£5.4m), Lewis Koumas (£5.0m) and Jeremie Frimpong (£5.3m). As well as assists for Florian Wirtz (£7.3m), Kostas Tsimikas (£4.9m), Frimpong and Koumas respectively.
Player Spotlight: Florian Wirtz (£7.3m)
Following his attacking return in the Champions League on Wednesday evening, Wirtz could prove an interesting differential for FPL managers.
In the Premier League, only Alexander Isak (£9.0m) has had more shots in the Liverpool team than Wirtz in the opening six weeks of the season. Of Wirtz' 14 shots, 10 of those have come from inside the box.
He is also joint-top across the Liverpool squad for chances created with 11 - level with Dominik Szoboszlai (£6.9m) and Cody Gakpo (£7.1m).
Wirtz also benefits from having an additional route to points from set pieces. The midfielder has taken four corners as well as three free kicks. Additional responsibilities add to a player's appeal in FPL as it increases their likelihood of being involved in any attacking returns.
