Reds in focus
Liverpool return from the three-week international break unbeaten after a hard-fought 1-0 win at AFC Bournemouth in Gameweek 5.
Virgil van Dijk (£6.5m), Alisson Becker (£5.5m) and Alexander Isak (£9.1m) were the Reds’ top-performing FPL assets, with all three registering eight FPL points.
The Liverpool defensive unit have been excellent owns in FPL, with three clean sheets in the last three Premier League matches.
Van Dijk added to his clean sheet points with two defensive contribution points for registering 13 defensive contributions in the match.
Defenders can earn two additional defensive contribution points for returning 10 or more defensive actions (clearances, blocks, interceptions and tackles won) in a single match.
Alisson, meanwhile, added two bonus points to his four clean sheet points, while Isak scored the winning goal and returned the maximum three bonus points.
There were also defensive FPL returns for Ronald Araujo (£5.4m), Milos Kerkez (£5.3m) and Jeremy Jacquet (£5.0m), who registered seven, six and six points respectively.
Florian Wirtz (£7.3m) registered his second attacking return of the Premier League season with the assist for Isak’s goal in Gameweek 5. He followed this with a goal while on international duty for Germany.
Player spotlight: Alisson
With three clean sheets in a row, Alisson has played an important role in each of those shutouts. His performance at Bournemouth demonstrated why goalkeeper points are not always dependent on constant defensive dominance.
Most of the Brazilian’s points this season have come from his league-leading three clean sheets.
Of the regular starting goalkeepers, only two have conceded fewer goals than the Liverpool No.1. However, it is Alisson’s ability to attract extra points that further increases his appeal.
He has made 14 saves across the opening five matches of the season, registering three additional save points, and has also returned five bonus points – only one goalkeeper in the league can better that.
The stopper is currently registering 5.6 points per start this season and is on track to have one of his best ever FPL seasons if that current form continues.
Gameweek 6 deadline
